Modern medicine and international aid: Khunde Hospital, Nepal, 1966-2026

Established by Sir Edmund Hillary and staffed initially with volunteer medical graduates – many from Otago – this small hospital quickly became the main provider of ‘modern’ healthcare and medicines in the remote Mt Everest region. Set against a background of economic and social change, Khunde Hospital in December 2026 will reach 60 years of working with the local people.

The lecture with be delivered in person and live via Zoom.
