April 16th — 23rd, 2026 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
OLGA, 32 Moray Place, Dunedin
OLGA is pleased to present twenty early works by Marilynn Lois Webb (1937-2021) from a private collection spanning several major series from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
Marilynn (Te Roroa, Ngãpuhi and Ngāti Kahu) was always interested in the relationships we forge with land, water and sky.
She was an acclaimed educator and was known for her generous support of younger artists. In 1974 Webb was awarded the Frances Hodgkins Fellowship. She was awarded a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa in 2010 by the University of Otago in recognition for her services to art and arts education. In 2011 she received a Ngā Tohu a Tā Kīngi Ihaka award from Te Waka Toi for her contributions to ngā toi Māori (Māori arts). The Dunedin Public Art Gallery presented a major retrospective of her work 'Folded in the hills' in 2024.
The prints are accompanied by an Adrienne Martyn photograph documenting a scene from the interior of Marilynn's Durham Street home.
