Octagon Poetry Collective's monthly reading

New Athenaeum Theatre in The Octagon, Dunedin

Featured guests for this month are Linda Collins & Sandie Forsyth with MC Jackson.

Kakanui-based Linda Collins started writing eight years ago and has been in Headland, The Spinoff, Newsroom, Poto: The Big Book of Small Stories, Otherhood, The Mekong Review, Quarterly Literary Review of Singapore, and this month (August), the Aotearoa Poetry Yearbook, among others. She has a memoir, Loss Adjustment, published in Singapore, New Zealand and China, and a poetry collection, Sign Language for the Death of Reason, mentored by New York queer poet Michael Montlack. Shortlisted for the Bridport Prize, runner-up in the Mslexia contest, and a finalist in the Joy Harjo single poem contest in the US, she has MAs in Creative Writing from IIML and the University of East Anglia.
Sandie Forsyth is a retired counsellor and lives with her partner on the Otago Peninsula. She has been reading her poetry at the Octagon Collective for the past decade and belongs to the Dromedary Poetry Collective. In February this year, she published her first poetry collection, Visitor, with the newly formed Dromedary Collective Press.

 

Octagon Poetry Collective — Poetry Nights in Dunedin!

Calling all poets, spoken-word lovers, and creative spirits!

The Octagon Poetry Collective brings together local and visiting poets for monthly readings and an open mic in the heart of Dunedin. Whether you're an experienced writer or new to sharing your work, this welcoming session offers a supportive stage to listen, perform, and connect with Ōtepoti’s vibrant literary community. 

When: Monthly — second Wednesday of the month at 7pm (check their Facebook/Octagon Collective or Instagram/@octagoncollectivepoetry pages for updates)
Where: New Athenaeum Theatre in The Octagon, Dunedin
What to Expect: Featured guest poets, open mic, warm atmosphere, free entry.

Bring a poem to share or just come and enjoy the words — with drinks and snacks available from the theatre.
