NZYWF: Feathers in Flight: Voices of the Next Generation

Saturday, 13th September 2025 5:15 PM - 7:00 PM

Te Whare o Rukutia

Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu – With feathers, the bird can fly.

Join us for an evening that celebrates bold new writing, featuring a talented group of emerging voices connected through a special wānaka at Puketeraki Marae as part of the 2025 festival.
In this special mix-and-mingle reading event, our young writers take the stage to share original work — from poetry to storytelling: lyrical, personal, political, and everything in between. Each piece offers a glimpse into the future of Aotearoa literature.
Showcasing a diversity of style, identity, and imagination, the event highlights the vibrancy of Aotearoa’s next generation of storytellers.

Hosted by acclaimed writer and performer Josiah Morgan (Kāi Tahu, Ngāti Maniapoto), this is a rare opportunity to feel the creative pulse of our future literary leaders.

Complimentary kai thanks to proud supporters Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature.
Come for the words, stay for the warmth — and leave inspired.

This event will be recorded as a podcast. You can access the podcast on Otago Access Radio’s website (oar.org.nz) or on the podcasts page on our website after the festival. Heartfelt thanks to the UNESCO Dunedin City of Literature and Otago Access Radio for making this podcast possible.
