Landfall Tauraka - an artful journal: The Group

Join Hocken curators Nick Austin and Alexander Ritchie to view and discuss original artworks featured in the literary and arts journal Landfall Tauraka, including work by Helen Brown, Pam Cotton, Doris Lusk, Colin McCahon, May Smith, and Garth Tapper.

Artwork has been integral to the literary and arts journal Landfall Tauraka since its inception in 1947, and some of the original artworks that featured in Landfall are now held at the Hocken Collections. The artists featured in this session were all connected to The Group, an informal association of artists formed in Christchurch in 1927 as an alternative exhibition opportunity to the Canterbury Art Society’s annual show.

This event is free to attend, but registration is essential as spaces are limited.
