Exhibition: Wish

26th Jun — 31st July, 2025

Studio2 and Margaret Freeman Gallery, 147 Hillside Road, South Dunedin

Monday - Thursday 9am - 12pm and 1-4pm

Friday 9am - 12pm

Last year, Studio2 was approached by City of Literature South D Poet Lorikeet Jenny Powell, to create illustrations for a set of poems written by South Dunedin Supergrans across a series of workshops with Jenny.

The creative process began with the question: “If you had a wish, what would it be?”
The result is a beautiful pukapuka full of poems including cowboys, Taieri Mouth, adventure, and more!

Pop into the studio to check out Wish and the amazing illustrations

Words from City of Literature South D Poet Lorikett Jenny Powell:
"In 2024, South Dunedin’s SuperGrans and Studio2 artists produced a selection of poems and corresponding artworks. The result is a stunning publication from the City of Literature called Wish.
Sometimes, successful collaborations develop a life of their own, travelling far beyond their original concept. Handwritten copies of the SuperGrans’ poems are on display at the Morrin Centre, as part of the Québec City of Literature Poetry Pen Pals Project and in an exciting new development, the artworks are now on display at the Studio2 and Margaret Freeman Gallery. To view the exhibition is to be uplifted. Moved. Revived. They are works from the heart, displaying skill, individuality but also a pure creative connection to the associated poems. What more could we wish for?"
