some time in the company of inadequacy
The eyes in the dark
are curious, waiting
while I pre-dawn scroll
all the hopeless things.
‘Hello inadequacy,’ I say.
‘Hello,’ it blinks.
I place palms on my chest
offer it a kind of welcome.
Inadequacy is
sort of pleased
I’ve noticed it.
I fall back asleep
into a dream:
a black dragon roars
on flickering wings
‘We destroy.’
I crush another draft.
