Selected by Melbourne City of Literature for this year’s Literary Programmers Roundtable
The International Literary Programmers Roundtable combines the highlights of visiting Melbourne, with a range of professional opportunities for delegates and a chance to experience Melbourne Writers’ Festival.
The program includes networking and exchanging best practice ideas, meeting Australian publishers and local literary organisations, enjoying events and gatherings and, of course, getting to know Melbourne, a UNESCO City of Literature.
This delegation comprises 7 people from literary organisations based within UNESCO Creative Cities and 7 delegates from Melbourne’s literary sector.
Holly Fletcher (Dunedin City of Literature) is a writer living in Ōtepoti/Dunedin. She is the Librarian at the Dunedin Athenaeum Library and Mechanics Institute and curates a fortnightly radio show called Books Uncovered, on Otago Radio Access. Originally formed in Dunedin in 1851, The Mechanics’ Institute became known as the Dunedin Athenaeum and Mechanics' Institute from 1859. At a time when there was no other adult education available, this private organisation took on the role and responsibility of educating the Dunedin public through member classes and a library. It currently serves as a private subscription library and an events space, reflecting the changing needs of its community.
