Notable contributions to Milton Scholarship

Each year the Milton Society of America honours a scholar for “notable contributions to Milton scholarship.” This year, the award was given to Otago’s own John Hale.

 John has published on Shakespeare, Austen, and others, but he is a world-renowned scholar of John Milton, and his expertise on Milton’s Latin compositions is unrivalled. His scholarship continues: in February, English and Linguistics celebrated the publication of John’s latest book, “Milton’s Scriptural Theology.”
