Robert Burns Fellows get-together frequency could double

The success of a reunion of University of Otago Robert Burns Fellows, means that their next get-together could come sooner than the usual 10-year interval.

"It felt like an embarrassment of riches.

"It’s still reverberating, all those meetings," one of the event organisers, Karen McLean, of the Otago University department of English and linguistics, said yesterday.

Dr McLean, who worked with fellow organiser Associate Prof Jacob Edmond, said Burns Fellows had responded enthusiastically to the 60-year anniversary reunion, which ended on Sunday.

They had already been asked if another reunion could be held in five years, rather than after the usual 10 years.
