Warmest congratulations to all the contributors to this wonderful annual Sampler featuring the University of Auckland Master of Creative Writing’s graduating cohort (2022–23), with an introduction by Director Paula Morris (MNZM). The exceptional Sampler showcases twelve writers: one poet, one essayist, one story writer and nine novelists. The group includes Anna Woods, winner of this year’s Sargeson Prize, Rachel Paris, awarded the Phoenix Prize for best creative portfolio and poet Yvette Thomas, who won last year’s Caselberg Trust International Poetry Prize.
