Introducing The Art Lens

The Art Lens is a youth-led platform creating meaningful, accessible opportunities for young creatives in Aotearoa New Zealand.
It primarily supports high school students and writers under 25; those still finding their footing, who may not yet have extensive publication histories but are committed to developing their voice and treating writing as a sustained practice rather than a distant aspiration. For too long, New Zealand’s literary landscape has lacked dedicated spaces for emerging young writers to publish, promote, and discuss their work. The Art Lens offers a platform for young writers to share their work publicly, build confidence, and see themselves as writers.
It encourages experimentation and creative growth, helping writers develop their voice.
While writing is central, The Art Lens recognises that barriers extend across artistic disciplines. Many young musicians, actors, painters, and filmmakers face similar challenges: limited access to platforms, networks, and sustained creative communities. The Art Lens provides space for young artists across forms to share work, explore process, and contribute to cultural conversations. The platform was founded by Tunmise Adebowale, who envisioned a space where young creatives could access support and visibility that are often unavailable in traditional literary and arts spaces. The Art Lens values emerging voices for honesty, curiosity, and commitment to craft.
