So, what is the Playwrights Programme?

Quite simply, it's an opportunity for 3 local (Ōtepoti Dunedin region) emerging playwrights to develop a short theatre script with the support of an experienced dramaturg (script advisor–mentor). At the end of the 10-week programme, each script is presented by professional actors at the public reading.

What makes this unique, is that we don't pre-select mentors for the programme; once we've selected the writers for each cycle, only then do we start the careful process of bringing together the right pairing. In the past, we've worked with industry heavyweights such as Victor Rodger, Jo Randerson, Duncan Sarkies, Angie Farrow and loads more. Matching the mentor to your particular project is what we pride ourselves on.
