David Howard has just arrived in Ulyanovsk UNESCO City of Literature to take up his residency!

In the square at the corner of Goncharov and Lenin streets, just opposite the house where the author was born, a memorial symbol, dedicated to I.A. Goncharov and the character of his novel I.I. Oblomov - "Oblomov's philosophical sofa"- was set up in October, 2005. 

The next year "Oblomov's slippers" appeared.
