The most books gifted in a single year since this wee grassroots charity began back in 2019.

Some big, brilliant news!

We are absolutely chuffed to report that our Kiwi Christmas Books 2025 campaign was officially our biggest ever — the most books gifted in a single year since our wee grassroots charity began back in 2019.

A massive 14,059 brand-new books were donated in the lead-up to Christmas last year in 42 towns and cities across Aotearoa. 64 locally-owned bookstores took part across the country, and 59 different charities helped us distribute them to children, young people and families from Kaitaia to Invercargill.

That’s a lot of books finding their way into young hands, a lot of readers being nurtured, a lot of joy and knowledge and wonder being shared, a lot of imaginations fired up.

To everyone who took the time to visit their local bookshop and donate a book, or who organised a donation box at their school or office or club, or who donated their time to do deliveries and pick-ups for us, or donated money to help us keep this good thing going: thank you. THANK YOU.

Our community is amazing. Even in tough times, you’ve shown up to help and to give, and we are so appreciative.
