Tonight we’re introducing the first of our ŌTL playwright programme writers for 2020.

Alison Cowan credits her fascinating arts background as “sparked by reciting a poem at my kindergarten Christmas show, when I was four.” She’s been a barbershop singer, teacher of Flamenco dancing, a poetry slam competitor, voice and stage actor, even a two-time finalist at the New Zealand Toastmasters Nationals, to name a few. An emerging writer, Alison has completed creative non-fiction and poetry papers, and is a regular attendee at Ōtepoti Writers Lab events.

We look forward to supporting Alison to develop her new work, alongside an exciting team to be announced in August!

Ōtepoti Theatre Lab is possible thanks to our funders Creative New Zealand and Dunedin City Council, as well as programme partners and supporters Dfa Trust & Dunedin Fringe Festival, Dunedin Arts Festival, New Athenaeum Theatre, City of Literature Dunedin, New Zealand, Better Creative Agency and Otago Museum.
