My father’s happy place by Pete Reid from Dunedin details Pete’s love affair with Vietnam.
“This story is about a brother and sister who are expecting their father to return from Vietnam,” says Pete. “But he fails to do so and they are forced to travel there, where they discover his diary. They use this to try and locate their missing father.”
Peter Reid graduated from Otago University and Otago Polytechnic with a BFA and a graduate diploma in Teaching. He has taught English in New Zealand, Australia and most recently Vietnam. For the past six years he has been teaching English as a second language in English Centres in Ho Chi Minh, Quy Nhon and Tuy Hoa. Her father's happy place is his first book and includes many references to his time in these wonderful Vietnamese cities. He is the divorced father of two daughters, Gina and Jody, and is currently living in Dunedin, New Zealand.
The book, published by Tim Saunders Publications in England, is available from all good bookshops and online and Pete is keen to work with local bookshops to organise readings and signings.
