This year, Read NZ Te Pou Muramura are leading the first ever Aotearoa NZ Children's Book Week!
Read NZ will be leading the charge, working alongside authors, creatives, and book-loving groups across Aotearoa New Zealand. This includes collaborating with valued industry partners such as Booksellers NZ, the NZ Society of Authors, the NZ Children’s Book Awards, and many more.
The goal is to celebrate Aotearoa New Zealand children’s books and encourage more tamariki to read.
Those closely connected to the New Zealand book community will notice that the dates overlap with the NZCYA Book Awards and Books Alive. This timing is intentional, with the aim of amplifying the kōrero around books and young readers during this period, recognising the shared goal of supporting reading and children’s literature.
The initiative is made possible thanks to early funding from the Mātātuhi Foundation, which helped set things in motion.
More details will be shared soon. In the meantime, groups or individuals with ideas who would like to be involved are encouraged to complete the form below, which will help the organisers keep track of the many ideas and events being planned.
