We’re so excited to be welcoming guests back to the characterful Pipitea Marae in Wellington on Wednesday for the 2025 New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults ceremony. Tickets have been selling fast but there are still a handful available, so if you’d like to join the celebrations, book online at Humanitix now.

But for those who can’t be there in person, there are several ways you can be part of it all virtually on the night.

A professional technical crew will be filming and livestreaming the ceremony, and you can pick up the feed on our Facebook page and the NZCYA YouTube channel, from 6.30pm on Wednesday.

So tune in via one of the links below to cheer on the finalists and learn who the winners are as they are announced. Feel free to join in the online conversation on Facebook, Instagram and X, using the hashtag #NZCYA.

#BooksAlive Day

The awards ceremony isn’t the only way to celebrate our finalists and their fabulous shortlisted books on Wednesday 13 August. We’re inviting all our book sector friends to jump on social media tomorrow and make a post using the hashtags #BooksAlive and #NZCYA. You could share a photo of a stack of shortlisted books in a store, talk about your favourite finalist title, wish the finalists good luck, make a prediction of the winners, or share the links to our livestreams.

Let’s take over social media on #BooksAlive Day 13 August to celebrate the magic of children's books!
