BWB Text No. 114 is here! 'Land, Race and the Settler Imagination' by Liana MacDonald is out now.

In her incisive new book, MacDonald examines how settler colonialism is sustained in Aotearoa New Zealand – by the spaces we move through, the institutions we work in and the stories we tell. Moving between personal story and analysis, MacDonald argues that places are never culturally neutral. Ordinary places, such as schools and universities, museums and shopping centres, carry stories that make a settler view of race, land and power seem natural, even inevitable.

Recognising our part in this story is where change begins.

'Land, Race and the Settler Imagination' is available now at all good bookstores or at bwb.co.nz/books/land-race-and-the-settler-imagination
