Homeless hand press

By Donald Kerr | Posted:

Over a year ago the Centre for the Book acquired a large Albion hand press from North Otago Museum. They are searching for a home for the Press.

Donald Kerr says it is ‘an excellent sample of a flat bed press, and would make a) a great displayable item, or b) could be used for producing hand press materials, including large posters. It would be great if it was used for instruction, to students, or those keen to learn hand craft printing.

‘Approximate measurements:

Sitting on a pellet it is 900 x 900 square

Height: 1900

The platen on machine - about 1000 x 1000

The bed size: 1000 x 700

The bed runner is about 1900

‘I would be very interested in any response to this. Please share this about with colleagues and others who might be interested. The press has tremendous potential; it would be a shame not to use it.
