With the generous support of our sponsors, samesame but different is once again running the Peter Wells Short Fiction Contest in 2023!

The competition celebrates the life and work of our late founder Peter Wells. It gives New Zealand LGBTQIA+ writers the opportunity to show their creative skills and to promote their work to a wider audience in a safe and supportive environment.

Our 2023 Festival theme is QUEEREVOLUTION—in line with this, for the contest, we would like to see the word ‘evolution’ used at least once, in any way and in any place in the stories entered.
