Expressions of Interest to Participate - Applications close: Sunday 29 June 2025
Are you a passionate, committed young writer aged 18-35 that’s keen for a unique opportunity to connect with other young writers and build your skills?
Dunedin Fringe – proud producers of the NZ Young Writers Fest (13-14 September 2025) – enthusiastically invite you to express your interest in participating in this year’s festival and accompanying wānaka*/wānanga at Puketeraki marae, Karitane (Wed 10 - Fri 12 September 2025). The NZ Young Writers Fest’s founding kaupapa was a vision for a festival “by young writers, for young writers” that “enables as many storytellers as possible” by creating a welcoming, inclusive and accessible space for skill building and community connection.
Young writers must be able to attend both the wānaka and the festival in full.
We highly encourage Māori and Moana writers to apply, and writers from other historically excluded communities.
HOW TO APPLY:
