Guest Speaker: Hera Lindsay Bird

Creative Cities Southern Hui warmly welcomes HERA LINDSAY BIRD as delegate and guest speaker. Hera will be participating in events for the duration of the Hui, and speaking at Creative Connections on Thursday 30th November.

‘I wrote most of my first book in Dunedin and I’m looking forward to returning to the scene of the crime for the Creative Cities Southern Hui.’

Hera Lindsay Bird is a poet from Wellington New Zealand.

Her debut poetry collection Hera Lindsay Bird was published in 2016 with Victoria University Press and won the 2017 Jessie McKay award for best first book of poetry.

Hera Lindsay Bird is being published with Penguin UK in November 2017, and her poetry chapbook Welcome to Good Behaviour Town, Population 0 selected by Carol Ann Duffy is coming out with the Poetry Society in early 2018.

This year Hera won the Sarah Broom Poetry Prize, and was the recipient of a New Generation Award from the Arts Foundation.

Creative Connections aims to explore creativity as the touchstone of healthy, sustainable communities and celebrate the power of collaboration to inspire.
