From the Author - excerpt from the Flying Whale BLOG: 

The idea for this story came from my (then) 1 year old granddaughter Tyne. She was with her mum and dad in Canada and I was in New Zealand but we kept in touch as much as we could through Skype (a situation common to many grandparents in these Covid times)

One day I learned she had been inventing her own little word-plays and had come up with “Uncle bunkle”. For some reason “Elephant Bellyphant” jumped into my mind and the little parade of rhyming animals that eventually became Bumblebee Grumblebee was born.
