These three incredible writers, poets, researchers, and community leaders will be guiding and supporting the NYZWF whānau throughout this year’s wānaka and festival programme. As Tuākana, they’ll lead wānaka, hold space for creative learning, and help shape the public programme — supporting participants every step of the way.
Grounded in tikanga Māori and the tuakana–teina model, they’ll foster peer-led learning and creative exploration, stepping up as mentors, speakers, and performers. With deep experience as poets, researchers, facilitators, and leaders, they are here to uplift emerging voices and create space for bold, authentic storytelling.
