By Te Wiki o te Reo Māori | Posted: Monday Sep 14, 2026

Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori is celebrating the power of bringing te reo home and the role whānau play in nurturing language, identity and connection across generations.

Paulette Tamati-Elliffe and Kiringāua Cassidy bring a unique intergenerational perspective to Māori language revitalisation. As mother and son, they represent both the foundations and future of the Kotahi Mano Kāika movement, which has helped restore te reo Māori to thousands of Ngāi Tahu homes. Together, Paulette and Kiringāua will share their experiences of raising, living, and thriving through te reo Māori, demonstrating the power of language transmission within whānau and the impact it can have across generations.
