Dunedin literary app bilingual

A literary app that links New Zealand writers and their stories to specific Dunedin places has doubled in size and gone bilingual.

The University of Otago’s English and linguistics programme collaborated with the Dunedin Unesco City of Literature to create the app, called dtour, in 2018.

Adding new entries, and bilingual material, in Maori, required more than a year’s research, writing and voice recording, which continued during the pandemic lockdown.

Dtour creative director Dr David Ciccoricco was ‘‘pretty sure’’ this was the only bilingual Maori and English literary tourism app in the world.
