CALLING ALL MUSICIANS AND SONGWRITERS

By Otago Access Radio 105.4FM | Posted:

Youth Zone Unplugged is back for 2018! This year we are giving ten young musical acts the opportunity to record and produce their own original tracks to air on OAR FM Dunedin and associated platforms - Free of Charge

We will provide two hours of studio recording time and guidance in the creation of a 15-minute audio package including the recorded songs and an interview with the musicians about their songwriting and performance. The resulting tracks and video of the session can be used by the participants however they wish. We will also make them available to the other 12 access radio stations around New Zealand.

ABOUT OAR FM DUNEDIN
OAR FM Dunedin is a community access radio station that provides opportunities for people of all backgrounds to have their voices and opinions on air. Our Youth Zone Programming (from4 - 5 pm Weekdays) provides the opportunity for young aspiring broadcasters to gain experience and confidence in a fun and supportive environment.OAR FM provides free training, air time and the chance to create their own content available to listen on air, online and via podcast.

RECORDING DETAILS
In the new series of Youth Zone Unplugged, we are focusing on recording original songs. The two hour guided recording session will be used to record the songs, conduct a short interview and record video of the session to promote online.

The OAR FM studio has some flexibility for the range of instruments or set-ups that we can accommodate. Unfortunately we’re not set up for full electric bands but we can record a couple of electric instruments at a time if required. The recordings will take place over 10 weeks.

We are looking for a wide range of musical acts - so if you are a singer/songwriter, in a band, in avocal group, a brass quartet or a cultural group with original music - we want to hear from you.

PREVIOUS SERIES
Since the first Unplugged Series in 2014, we have run recording sessions with 54 youngmusicians recording 89 songs. You can hear examples of previous episodes from these links:
