The aim of establishing the Tuwhare Residency Programme is to nurture and develop new literary and creative works by providing emerging and established writers and artists with an inspiring environment to focus on their craft.

The Tuwhare Residency offers a unique experience to be resident in Kaka Point, in the home of one of Aotearoa’s greatest poets and be inspired by the same surroundings, view and rhythm of life that once inspired Hone Tuwhare.

There are 3 residencies on offer. Each residency offers a stipend, travel and accommodation at the Tuwhare crib at Kaka Point for up to 4 weeks.
