Te Papa Tupu 2022 – applications open!

Take the next step in your writing journey.

Applications are now open for Te Papa Tupu – a unique six-month writing programme designed to develop Māori writers and open doors into the world of book publishing. This valuable opportunity is offered to six participants every two years.

Submit your manuscript by 30 April 2022.

On Te Papa Tupu six-month programme, you will:

  • craft your writing with guidance from a mentor
  • attend three tailored workshops and a national writers’ festival
  • prioritise time to write with financial support
  • gain insights into the publishing process
  • connect with like-minded people
  • be equipped to submit a manuscript for publication.

Who can apply?
This opportunity is open to Māori writers who have written a manuscript, are living in Aotearoa and are committed to attending, learning and fulfilling a dream of being published.

We accept manuscripts of novels, short stories, children’s books, young adult novels and non-fiction written in English or te reo Māori.
