Blue Oyster is pleased to announce Owen Connors as Blue Oyster Caselberg Trust Summer Resident for 2020
Over three weeks, from Tuesday 14 January, Connors will be based at the Caselberg Trust House and Charles Brasch Studio in Broad Bay, developing research and artwork for their upcoming exhibition with Blue Oyster, opening in early April 2020.
Connors’ residency will begin with their ongoing research into The New Zealand AIDS Quilts and queer traditions of projective poetics. Connors’ looks forward to dedicated time spent in the Charles Brasch Studio, hosting reading events at the house and exploring new textile and poetic trajectories through the privilege of time and a new environment.
On top of expanding on the various threads of research, Connors intends to expand their collaborative network of practitioners, utilising their time in Ōtepoti to connect and create sustainable relationships with the queer community of practitioners based in the south.
We look forward to warmly welcoming Connors to Ōtepoti in early January and encourage anyone who might wish to meet with them to learn more about their practice to make contact.
Lastly, we’d like to warmly thank everyone behind Caselberg Trust for their collaboration and support of Blue Oyster Art Project Space as well as their ongoing commitment to fostering high-quality art in its many forms.
