The Elizabeth Brooke-Carr Memorial Writers' Residency

A Givealittle page has been setup to raise $5000 to fund a residency for writers at the Caselberg Trust, in memory of poet and writer, Elizabeth Brooke-Carr.

Much loved poet and writer, Elizabeth Brooke-Carr, passed away in September 2019. She touched many lives as a friend, teacher, counsellor and writer and is greatly missed by all who knew her.

As a young woman who left school early, she went on to graduate with her PhD as a mature adult - a point of great pride. It was also in later years that she began to write.

She was the inaugural Caselberg Trust writer-in-residence. The experience meant a great deal to her as an emerging writer. She went on to win a number of writing competitions with her poetry and short stories, and was working on her first novel. It is therefore fitting that we establish a residency for emerging writers in Elizabeth's memory.

The fundraising goal of $5000 (plus $263 to cover the Givealittle fee) will allow a residency for writers, one week in length, for ten years at the Caselberg Trust in Broad Bay, Otago Peninsula, Dunedin.

Use of funds

The funds will be gifted to the Caselberg Trust to establish a residency for writers for one week for ten years in Elizabeth Brooke-Carr's memory. Any additional money raised will increase the number of years the residency will be funded for.
