Save the date The 2020 Science Festival is ON!

We are so excited to bring a new ‘Nano Edition’ of the Science Festival to Dunedin this year during the first week of the July school holidays.

The ‘Nano Edition’ will consist mostly of events arranged by local Dunedin science communicators, and will work closely with Otago Museum, University of Otago and the Marine Studies Department to produce a fantastic family event. The Festival will host over 50 events across the 9 days – 4-12 July 2020.

We are hugely excited to be able to present a festival this year, after it was looking so unlikely just a few months ago. We are also aware that we have a big responsibility, as one of the first multi-day events since the lock down lifted, to take all the precautions necessary to ensure our event runs safely and within guidelines set by the government.

While we will be announcing the full programme details at the end of next week, we can reveal that we will be hosting the ‘Big Science Show!’ produced in association with Otago Museum and presented by veteran science communicator Amadeo Enriquez-Ballestero, and an expert panel discussion on the Covid-19 pandemic - which will consist of University of Otago experts in microbiology, immunology, virology and public health. Both will be held in the Teachers College Auditorium during the first weekend of the Festival.

Full programme available on 19th June at scifest.org.nz
