Do you have an area of interest that you’ve always wanted to pursue overseas? Do you have a research question that could assist your local community? Would support to investigate this help your family, whanau, iwi or region? If so, you might like to consider applying for a 2020 Winston Churchill Fellowship!

Established over 50 years ago, The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust believes international travel is an integral part in understanding one another and achieving world peace.

The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust was created by legislation in 1965 as a living memorial, with funds from both the New Zealand government and the public.

Since then, the income from investments has been used each year to fund fellowships that provide ordinary New Zealanders with extraordinary travel opportunities.

Fellowships assist people to travel overseas to learn from others and study topics that will be of personal benefit, help them advance their occupation, trade, industry, profession or community and New Zealand in general. Fellows return to New Zealand with new knowledge, skills, inspiration and networks to share and support development in their field.

Through the Winston Churchill Fellowships, Kiwis are able to have extraordinary opportunities. New Zealanders can apply for funding for international travel to immerse themselves in an experience of learning, networking, and studying in their field of interest. With new perspective and leadership skills, applicants return home enriched with knowledge to apply and contribute to the enhancement of their communities around New Zealand.

Coming from different professions, industries, regions, ethnicities, cultures, and backgrounds, the Trust Board welcomes applications from people of all walks of life. When developing proposals and itineraries, applicants should consider the immense learning potential from cultures and experiences in the Pacific and Asia region as well as Europe, North America, and the United Kingdom.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime. Applications for 2020’s #WCMT Fellowships open on the 1st May 2019 and close on 31 July 2019.
