Kaupapa: The Dunedin Fringe Arts Trust is setting up an affordable, accessible, flexible 120-seat theatre and performing arts venue called Te Whare o Rukutia, in the space currently occupied by the Dunedin Community Gallery. During the pilot phase of the project we are running a series of hui to gather feedback and input from our performing arts communities about what this venue could or should be in the long term. This is the first of those hui and we hope you can join us.

This invitation is open to anyone who has an interest in the stability and future of Ōtepoti’s performing arts infrastructure and a view on where this pilot project sits in that infrastructure and how we can collectively make it work in a way that will result in the best outcomes for all of our practitioners, venues, and audiences.

Tukaka: Suzanne Menzies-Culling will facilitate the hui which will open with whakawhanaungatanga. Speakers will include Gareth McMillan (project summary to date), Andy Meldrum (a summary of the technical focus groups and plans for kit out), Kate Schrader (programming and funding), and Hannah Molloy (marketing).

During this, we’ll be collecting your thoughts, questions, and feedback and then we’ll break for some kai. After this, we’ll gather together again and discuss the themes and burning questions drawn from the feedback.

We’ll send some questions to the RSVP list on Tuesday 23 November to get your thinking started.

Turukitaka: We will send a survey to all attendees and will offer a small koha to acknowledge your generosity for sharing your time and perspectives. We’ll email you a summary of the speakers’ information and the feedback from both the hui and the survey, and will continue to invite you to TWoR hive mind hui. If you would prefer to be removed from this list, please just let us know.

Please feel perfectly free to forward this invitation to anyone you think would be interested or have valuable insights to bring to the hive mind.
