National Poetry Day Youth Workshop

Two poems from the workshops will be selected for sharing at the Aug 26 event. Workshop attendees may submit their poems for consideration to be presented in the Aug 26 event. If selected, the poets will be invited to attend and share their work.

Join this workshop to find the poetry in music and to learn how to write poetry that sings! Some poets from the workshop may be invited to read their own poetry at a National Poetry Day event in Ōtepoti.

Rushi Vyas is the author of the poetry collection When I Reach for Your Pulse (forthcoming 2023) and the collaborative poetry book Between Us, Not Half a Saint (2021). He loves playing with music in poetry and with poetry in music. He has collaborated with musicians to create poetry for record booklets and with composers to set poetry to music. Rushi lives in Ōtepoti Dunedin and is excited to learn alongside young poets in the workshop!
