SUMMARY:Blanket Hut Braille
LOCATION:
DESCRIPTION:Wear your favourite PJs or Onesie, and join us for some stories in the dark.
How do you read in the dark? Simple! Julie Woods (aka That Blind Woman) will be reading aloud from a selection of children’s books in Braille.
Julie learned braille 15 years ago, but has never had the courage to read aloud. In October, the Blind Foundation are challenging people to take on the 7-Day Challenge to do something awesome for Blind Week. Julie decided to face her fears and come out of the reading aloud closet for her challenge, and will be reading one children’s book a day at each of the Dunedin Public Libraries during the second week of the school holidays.
Join Julie in the Blanket Hut to hear a classic children’s story and discover more about Braille and how you can read with your fingers as well as your eyes!
Suitable for all children old enough to sit and listen to stories.
