Fronting Up: A workshop to help you get the most out of reading to a live audience

Place: Dunningham Suite, Dunedin Public Library

Led by Barbara Else, a best-selling author of 15 books and reader at many festivals and literary events.

A key part of promoting your writing is reading well to a live audience. This kind of public performance needs planning and practice for you to make the best impact.

Fronting Up offers a systematic approach on how to get the most out of your reading. It also provides an opportunity to work on your delivery, and get feedback on it.

The session is suitable for writers in all genres. We welcome newcomers and old hands.

Topics covered include:

  • Choosing what to read
  • How to prepare and practice
  • How to introduce your piece
  • How to perform to the best of your ability

The presenters, Barbara and Chris Else, are each experienced writers. The session will be led by Barbara, a veteran of book tours and festivals. Her latest book is a memoir Laughing at the Dark (Penguin Random House NZ).

Two hours (plus) of practical fun.

Cost: $25

Limited to 16 participants
