CANCELLED: Catch-Up Book Group

21 April 2020 6:00pm

The Catch-Up Book Group is an informal group we run in partnership with the Department of English and Linguistics. We discuss classics you’ve heard about, read long ago, or have always meant to read… everyone is welcome, even those who actually aren’t going to read the book but would like to know more!

The Canterbury Tales written by Chaucer. One of the great touchstones of English literature (dating from 1387-1400 CE), a masterly collection of chivalric romances, moral allegories and low farce, presented as a story-telling competition between a group of pilgrims from all walks of life. Associate Professor Simone Marshall will discuss the 24 tales. Any edition is acceptable to read.

Join us at the bookshop on these Tuesdays from 6pm, for tea, coffee and treats; 6.30pm start for a talk by an Otago University lecturer, and bookish chat with fellow booklovers.
FREE! Seats are limited, and really popular, so please RSVP for each session: 03 477 6976 |
