A Land of Granite Teen Writing Competition
7 March - 11 May 2020
Dunedin Public Libraries in partnership with Dunedin Public Art Gallery and Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature bring you a writing competition for teens inspired by an upcoming exhibition at the Gallery.
A LAND OF GRANITE: McCahon and Otago opens on 7th March and runs until 28th June, showcasing the work of one of New Zealand’s foremost painters. We invite students to put pen to paper, creating a story of no more than 750 words. Some inspiring paintings from the exhibition can be viewed on the Dunedin Public Art Gallery website here: https://dunedin.art.museum/exhibitions/present/a-land-of-granite/
The competition is open to high school students in years 9-13.
Entries for the competition close on 11th May, and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Prize-winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery on Saturday 30th May, when the judges will also present their commentary on the winning works, and the winners will be invited to read their stories to the audience.
Entries may be submitted online via the Dunedin Public Libraries competition page https://www.dunedinlibraries.govt.nz/whats-on/competitions/a-land-of-granite-teen-writing-competition where you will also find a full list of terms and conditions.
