Local writer heading to Nanjing!

By Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature | Posted:

Super exciting news that Kyle Mewburn has been selected as one of six writers/poets/translators from around the world to take part in this year’s Nanjing City of Literature residency programme.

The theme for the 2023 residency is 'urban life and literature'.

There were 92 applications from the City of Literature sub-network and also from other UCCN clusters. The selected writers will have two weeks stay in Nanjing before end of the year.

The other writers are:
Nick Holdstock from Edinburgh
Angel Fabregas Garcia from Granada
Debby Lukito Goeyardi from Jakarta
Elisa Biagini from Milan
and Miodrag Kojadinović from Quebec City

Kyle says:

I am incredibly honoured, delighted and super-excited to have been chosen to participate in the Nanjing Residency. Visiting a city with such a long cultural history, together with the opportunity to engage with writers from both the local and international writing community, is bound to be inspiring and endlessly fascinating. I'm sure I'll return buzzing with enough stories to last a lifetime. A huge thanks to the Dunedin City of Literature team for both their support and the great work they do connecting writing communities across the globe.

Congratulations Kyle!

Nanjing Residency is looking forward to welcoming more international writers for the 2024 program.
