Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature included an extract from Victor Billot’s poem Monsoon Season in the Read the World exhibition held in Reykjavik City of Literature in 2018.

The plains were dry, and no spring wells underneath

as green turns to yellow, and yellow to grey

but a curtain of water drew close upon me,

cool from the earth.

Balance restored, a circle is drawn.

The dream is shattered as the dream reforms.

Victor Billot is a Dunedin writer and musician who has published three books of poetry: Mad Skillz for the Demon Operators (2014), Machine Language (2015), and Ambient Terror (2017), The Sets (2021).
