The Coalition for Books is delighted to announce that Mark Broatch, former deputy editor and books and culture editor of the New Zealand Listener, has accepted the role of Reviews Editor for a new “lithub”-style website to be launched in September by the Coalition for Books – KETE: New Books from Aotearoa New Zealand.

Melanie Laville-Moore, Chair of The Coalition for Books, says: “We are acutely aware of the need for more book coverage, despite the much-appreciated work of the many excellent existing review sites. We are developing a website devoted specifically to New Zealand books and new releases. We welcome Mark to the role of Reviews Editor, and we’re confident that he will compile a reviews section which will make for a lively and dynamic entrance to all types of New Zealand books – from commercial and literary fiction to sports books to poetry to cookbooks and writing for children.”

Mark can be contacted at reviews.coalitionforbooks@gmail.com in the lead-up to the site’s launch, but he will be contacting New Zealand publishers and publicists in the weeks to come about titles from September onwards.

“This is an exciting piece of work for the Coalition, and one we expect to make a difference for authors, booksellers and publishers in a time where opportunities for New Zealanders to discover local books have been shrinking.”

The Coalition for Books is a collaborative organisation that aims to make a tangible difference in the literary landscape of Aotearoa, by rolling out strategic initiatives that will engage more audiences with a diverse range of New Zealand books and authors.
